About the Speaker

Elizabeth "Liz" Breaux

Elizabeth “Liz” Breaux is one of the most practical, down-to-earth, informative, and entertaining speakers and authors in the field of education. She leaves her audiences laughing, crying, and certain that they have chosen the right profession—teaching. She has taught and worked with “at-risk” students for 21 years and believes that there is not a more challenging and rewarding job in the world. A former classroom teacher and curriculum coordinator, she is also one of the coordinators of T.I.P.S., an induction program for new teachers in Lafayette, Louisiana. Liz is currently under contract with the Bureau of Education and Research, where she provides educators across the country with “Practical Strategies for Improving the Behavior and Academic Success of At-Risk Students.” In addition, she trains new-teacher assessors for the Louisiana Department of Education.

Liz’s presentation topics include:

*Classroom Management
*Real-life Teaching Strategies
*Writing Across the Curriculum
*HOTS (Higher Order Thinking Strategies): Teaching ALL Students to Think Critically
*New Teacher Induction (How to Organize an Induction Program.)

In February of 2002, Liz appeared as the subject of Dr. Harry Wong’s monthly column where he stated that, “Liz has no secrets, because effective teachers do not employ the latest fads, tricks of the trade, or untested opinions. Her success is based on good classroom management skills.”

Liz is the author of “Classroom Management Simplified,” "How to Reach and Teach All Students Simplified," “Real Teachers, Real Challenges, Real Solutions,” and “Practical Strategies for Improving the Behavior and Academic Success of Your At-Risk Students.”
